tracking down some products

Hey guys, sorry for being away from the blog for so long.  My camera is missing, therefore I cannot update my blog with pictures as I liked to do.

My youngest has stepped up and is letting me use his camera for the time being.

Anyway, I know you all want to track down the little blank keychains over at the Michael’s art supply store. Firstly, here is a picture of the store that I frequent, just in case you were wondering.

on Bell and Grand ave...

Here is a shot of the keychains that I have been bringing to class.  This is the actual little froggy guy that I purchased next.

I hope you have some fun with this craft as I have!

Attention please…

Hey First thru Third grade students!  We will be wrapping up our ‘zoo project’ soon, and that means we will need posterboard.

Plain white poster-board will be a fine completion piece for our project.  So, please have your parents get you a sheet of it and bring it to school by December 9th.

Last year, we used canvas panels for our ‘aquarium’ and they were super-cool to use, but posterboard is better for two reasons, it’s cheaper… and the surface space is larger, so we can add more animals and background features.

So, get those sheets of poster-board in to your classroom teachers (and add your name on the back please), and we can then wrap up this exciting project.

Happy December!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

I haven’t posted in a while, mainly because of the combined specials that we have been having in preparation for the Christmas musical.

When I get back into your class, 1st thru 3rd grade will be wrapping up our ‘zoo project’ and in order to do this, we need a sheet of posterboard for your background. So, all students involved in this project will need a piece of posterboard, white or any color that you desire.

Please post here if you have any questions.

I want to show you some of my daughter’s work, in the following pictures, she is using markers on a canvas board. I guess that she is my guest artist for the month. I am very thankful for my family.  I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving too!

Yearbook contest rules

Hi gang. I have some finalized rules for the yearbook design contest.

  • On your first piece of paper, you will draw your full-color design. It can be a painting, drawing or any original artwork, as long as it is in color.
  • Your second piece of paper will have your theme.  The theme should involve a positive character trait about Imagine Rosefield . Why you like going to our school, etc. This theme should go with your artwork.

Perhaps you want to draw the Roadrunner doing something respectful, or showing good manners or citizenship… those are things that would look good on a yearbook cover.

The due date for your art is October 28th. Be sure to turn it in to your homeroom teacher.

It’s ok for you to submit more than one design.  You are not limited on the amount of good ideas that you can have for this contest. I can’t wait to see what you all are going to do.

Happy Drawing !!!

unicorn crossing

I received a gift today that was very awesome.

I commented on a student’s excellent art one day a few weeks ago and said “wow, that design needs to be on a shirt…”

And that is just what a couple of students did.  They made me an official and original ‘Unicorn Crossing‘ shirt. :)

"Halt! Are you a unicorn? Yes? You may pass..."

We know it's a Uni Crossing because of the rainbow.

I was proud to wear this tonight. My own kids were pretty jealous.

Maybe you too can be a Unicorn Crossing Guard, but I don’t know if you can handle it.

Do you have any T shirt design ideas? Can your symbol design handle being put on a shirt? Give it a try!

Thanks again to my shirt creators!

binders for next year

Hey my people!

Last school year, I was telling my students to get themselves a one-inch binder.  Some of you did and you rejoiced because your artwork did not get eaten by your backpack or destroyed and thrown out. Yay!  :-)

Some of you did NOT.

I want to recommend that if you are returning to Rosefield, you should get yourself a binder for art class.

Some of you said: “My mom (or dad) says we can’t afford it..”  That’s totally understandable, so I have been looking around for good deals for you, and here it is.

binders

Yes, ninety-two cents. (92 cents) This picture was taken today at my local Wal-Mart grocery store on Reems and Greenway.

Maybe if you have one already, you could buy some for the students who might not have one. Just bring them to school and get them to me, and I will hand them out.  I want to thank the families and students last year who so graciously donated supplies for our illustration projects. You just never know how much your little bit of generosity can make someone else’s life easier.  :-)

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for not updating the blog in a week. This week was the deadline for all of the art for the Summer Forum, and I have been scrambling to get it all put together. :)

My second announcement is that I would like to let you all know that the web address to my blog has been simplified. You can simply type in www.sketchfun.com and it will bring you right here! Isn’t that cool?

Here are a few pictures of my puppy, just to make up for my absence:
