goofing around
Here are some 6th graders gathering up the recycling stuff, they pose, obviously gifted at what they do… and like always, Coach comes thru and knocks the boxes all down.

Hey guys, sorry for being away from the blog for so long. My camera is missing, therefore I cannot update my blog with pictures as I liked to do.
My youngest has stepped up and is letting me use his camera for the time being.
Anyway, I know you all want to track down the little blank keychains over at the Michael’s art supply store. Firstly, here is a picture of the store that I frequent, just in case you were wondering.
Here is a shot of the keychains that I have been bringing to class. This is the actual little froggy guy that I purchased next.
I hope you have some fun with this craft as I have!

If you have talked to me for any length of time, you know that I push into all sorts of areas of art exploration.
I recently went to the craft store and purchased my latest creation, of course he was just a blank keychain at the time, but after painting and adding some touches with marker, I now have a new little friend.
So as it was said in ages past: “say hello to my little friend…”
So, I bought the triangle-headed one with the intention of making a reptile. Specifically, a little chameleon.
His skin didn’t have a vibrant enough color to it, so I decided to turn him into a dinosaur, possibly a Triceratops.
There are so many fun things out there that are totally within your grasp as artists, I encourage you to try something new all of the time, avoid those ruts!

I went in yesterday and finished the mural up that is in the main hallway, right across the hall (kinda) from the teachers lounge.
I added some extra paint to tidy up some of the messier paint lines, I also added a red highlight to accent the word ‘successful’.
I also started on the next mural, which is around the corner from the above one, it isn’t finished yet, but I plan on writing out some words, and painting some roots on the little tree.
You might wonder why it has so few leaves right now… well, all I will say is that it will have more leaves when it is all done.

Here’s what I did today over at the school. I got to come in and paint on the wall.
My son took some pictures of the mural as I was painting it.
I used sandpaper first and lightly sanded the wall to remove the gloss from the previous paint
I used spray paint next. When using spray paint, it needs to be used in a well-ventilated area… which means you should make sure that there is plenty of air. So, I opened up some doors, and set up my two fans… and went to work.
I followed up with some regular acrylic paint, which is the washable stuff we use in class.
I will post again tomorrow, when I work out some more of the details.
The paint needs a day to cure (dry), and then I will tighten up the lettering, add hilites, and coat the painting with a ‘fixative’ to keep it from getting smudged or scraped off later.

As I may have mentioned in class, my daughter crocheted a sweater for Gaby, our little dog. Due to the fact that Gaby is a small dog, she does seem to get cold easier than my chubby cats do…
Here are a few pictures of her. She is a sweetie.

I hope you all have had a restful day with family as I have.
We broke from the tradition of ham for dinner and made pizza instead!

The Christmas concerts were a big success, and a good reason for that is the great facility that we got to rent and use. This week, the entire student body signed a card put together by Ms. Jones, and I was invited to draw the cover.
Thank you again Christ Church of the Valley! (CCV)

Instead of having an assembly this year for Kids at Hope Day, the students were handed out rockets to decorate… and they did, with their future plans.
It seems we have some princesses, Presidents, Fire Fighters, Dentists, ‘House Sellers’, Teachers, Artists, and so many more occupations.
We discuss careers a lot in class, but more importantly, we talk about character.
Here are some quotes about character:
Want to color your own rocket! Help yourself!

Here are some images of ‘hand-turkeys’ drawn by my kids and their friends… and one of mine is in there as well.
