Drawn to Art

Plenty of you have asked me where they can find ‘other’ art supplies that are not available at the Michael’s and JoAnne’s stores. Well, another great store pretty close to our area is Arizona Art Supply.   <—- there is the link to their website.

This store is located down Grand Avenue in Sun City.

There are many cool things that they offer there, including the prismacolor sketching pencils that are animation-grade.

So, going outside and drawing is really cool. Sometimes, I don’t have a lot of time to just grab a chair and sit out in front of the house and draw.  It’s totally ok to get your camera and take a picture for later.

Here are some flowers budding in front of my house.

The neat thing is the little, unexpected cool events that happen when we are shooting pictures. Now in the last picture, look for the black arrow… it is pointing to a little purple thing that was not there in the previous shots.  The purple streak is actually a hummingbird getting something to eat and he got really close to me.

So, I want you to go outside and shoot some pictures for your enjoyment, and perhaps for something that you can draw or color later.

Just a clarification on my name. Yes, my name is Mr. Manning… and I am the Art teacher of Imagine Rosefield School.

I see all grades, from Kindergarten to 6th Grade.

My blog is here for your students mainly to access forms that I have created to assist them with their various projects.  My blog is also here for parents to see exactly what we are doing in art class. Comments are welcome!

Now, I have gathered some interesting variations to my name that the students have called me, which I have compiled here for your entertainment.

Aside from Mr. Manning, I have been called:

Mr. Henning

Mr. Hengy

Mr. Manee

Mr. Hammy

Mr. Maynaise (like Mayonnaise, not sure)

Mr. Hammy has to be my favorite, coming from the same Kindergartner in spite of the few times that I have tried to set him straight.

I will be posting the details of our aquarium project, which will include a photo of the finished product and printable pages for your students in the ease and comfort of your own home.
